Color Change Garnet - Gemselect

Color Change Garnet Gemselect

Color-change Garnet is a mix of spessartite and pyrope garnet and is is one of the most rare and interesting, of all precious stones. This garnet presents a color change from brownish rose in daylight to a more red in incandescent light.
The color change in garnets can be quite intense and dramatic; many specimens surpassing that of the most expensive alexandrites. In fact, color change garnets can easily be mistaken for alexandrite.
Color change gemstones are not the same as pleochroism, where gems can show different colors from different angles (like that of tourmaline or iolite). Only very rare sapphire, tourmaline, garnet and alexandrite occur as actual color change and not just pleochroic.
