Rose Cut Gemstones - GemSelect

Rose Cut gemstones were once very popular, but are nowadays uncommonly found. The Rose Cut style was used extensively with the cutting of diamonds, but today rarely seen.  There are many variations to the Rose Cut style, many of which were very popular in antique jewelry. The Rose Cut technique can be dated back to the mid 16th century and is linked in with many historical cutting styles.

The Rose Cut style traditionally will have a base similar to that of a cabochon.  The base pavilion will be flat, wide and without facets. The top crown of the stone is faceted, typically triangular but many modifications exist. The crown is usually domed to form a point and the facets are cut in symmetrical arrangement.
Most Rose Cut gemstones are round shape, but there are many other unique and fancy shapes that can be found, such as the wonderful selection we have available.
